Digital Bra
I created the Digital Bra during a week long workshop called Scrapyard Challenge led by Jonah Brucker-Cohen and Katherine Moriwaki. Initially I wanted to create something that could generate feedback noise from speakers installed on my chest and microphones (piezo disks) attached to my fingers. However, the feedback didn’t occur until I actually touched the bra with the piezo disks in various locations.
Although the bra doesn’t require as much gesture to trigger sounds as I had hoped, the sounds it does create is very interesting. Hear the bra (mp3, 280kb) I plan on creating a refined version of the bra with the possibility of adding digital underwear
The bra was created with 2 amplifiers, 6 speakers taken from various toys and radios, 2 piezo disks, netting, tank top elements, plastic pieces, cardboard, velcro and lace.
